What is the difference between Aircraft and Airport photos?

AeroHub Photos has two galleries: Aircraft and Airport. When you upload, you choose one of them at the top of the form, under Select Category. The difference is simple: it depends on what the main subject of your photo is.

Aircraft photos

The main subject is one aircraft. The photo shows that aircraft clearly, so people can see its type, airline and livery.

  • You fill in the registration, the aircraft, the airline and the livery.
  • These photos appear in the Aircraft gallery.
  • If they follow the rules, they can also appear on the aircraft cards of AeroHub Radar, when someone clicks that aircraft on the map.

Examples: an A320 taking off, a 777 at the gate, an air-to-air photo of a 787.

Airport photos

The main subject is the airport itself, not one specific aircraft. The photo shows the place: the terminal, the runways, the apron, the control tower, or a view over the whole airport.

  • You fill in the airport and its location. You do not need to fill in a registration.
  • These photos appear in the Airport gallery.
  • They can appear on the airport cards of AeroHub Radar.

Aircraft can be in an airport photo, for example parked at the terminal, but they are part of the scene, not the main subject.

Which one should I choose?

Ask yourself: "What do I want people to look at?"

  • If the answer is one aircraft, choose Aircraft.
  • If the answer is the airport, choose Airport.

If you choose the wrong gallery, the photo can be rejected for "Wrong category". Read Why was my photo rejected? to learn more.
